NEW in Islek: IRSENTAL SWING TRAIL
The Swing Trail winds its way through the charming Irsental valley for about 4.1 kilometers. Along the way, nine varied swings and play structures invite you to take a short break and have some fun. Whether it’s a bird’s nest swing, a seat swing, a parent-child swing, or a giant swing—there’s something here for swing fans of all ages.
Three interactive stations share fascinating facts about the flora and fauna of the Irsental Valley. With a little luck, you’ll encounter butterflies, insects, and other inhabitants of this precious habitat along the way.
The Irsental Swing Trail combines nature exploration, exercise, and play —turning a hike into a shared adventure. Benches, picnic areas, and shelters invite you to linger.
A trail for everyone who loves being outdoors. For families with children, for grandparents and grandchildren, for friends—and, of course, for anyone who simply feels like taking a special stroll through the Irsental Valley.
Come along, discover the “Valley of Butterflies,” and swing to your heart’s content!
Want even more fun and games? Afterward, visit the village playground in Irrhausen behind the community center or play a round of mini-golf at the campground in the Irsental.

Accessibility for strollers and wheelchairs
The Schaukelweg is largely accessibleto strollers and wheelchairs. However, there are some restrictions in the area of the footbridge over the Irsen: There are a few steps directly in front of the footbridge. The short, narrow path leading away from the footbridge is also difficult to navigate with a stroller and is not suitable for wheelchairs. You can turn around at the rocking horse or the giant swing and head back the same way. If you’d like to explore all the swing stations, use the covered bridge at the reservoir to cross to the other side of the Irsen River and continue on to the remaining stations.
Funding Note: This project is funded by the GAP Strategic Plan in Rhineland-Palatinate for the 2023–2027 EU funding period (LEADER) and co-financed by the European Union.
