Alfrid M. Sicking Quintet

The Altfrid M. Sicking Quintet brings world-class jazz to Haus Beda with its Bitburg debut.

Bandleader Altfrid Sicking is one of the most sought-after vibraphonists on the German jazz scene and one of the top musicians who often play in the background as a sideman for well-known stars. For over 20 years, he has been the vibraphonist for the Götz Alsmann Band. In 2020, he founded his own band, with which he recorded his first CD, “I AM,” that same year. In Bitburg, he will present his own compositions—written specifically for this ensemble—to the audience.

Velvety-smooth jazz ballads and energetic up-tempo numbers alternate with dynamic Latin pieces, and clear melodic lines with expressive solos. The five band members are among the most experienced and established jazz musicians in Germany. In addition to the band member who is also a professor at the Münster University of Music, the lineup includes Christian Kappe on trumpet, who has already toured the world with the bands Jasper van’t Hof and Trilok Gurtu; Sebastian Altekamp on piano (who teaches at universities in Enschede and Detmold, among other places); Ingo Senst, who, as one of the best double bassists, has played with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, among others; and drummer Christian Schoenefeldt, who has played with nearly every (world) star and works as a lecturer.

The concert is presented in collaboration with Jazz-Initiative Eifel e.V.
