Bitburg
The Notos Quartet is regarded as one of the outstanding chamber music formations of the present day. Both the audience and critics admire the virtuosic brilliance and technical perfection of the ensemble. Since its founding in 2007, the Notos Quartet has been awarded six first prizes as well as numerous special prizes at international competitions. They perform worldwide in the most prestigious concert halls and at the most important festivals. In addition to well-known masterpieces, the quartet is particularly committed to contemporary music and premieres. The musicians are also keen to uncover lost and forgotten works of the piano quartet genre. This includes the piano quartet by Béla Bartók, whose rediscovery gained significant attention and recognition worldwide and was recorded by them for the first time globally.
The musicians also consider it important to take a stand on the societal issues of our time.
The quartet is deeply committed to a special form of talent promotion: In the annual "Notos Chamber Music Academy," a project of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland held at Schloss Weikersheim, the individual musicians form different ensembles with the students and encourage chamber music insights, skills, and high performances on equal footing.
