Bickendorf
The AG Heimatkunde Backenduarf cordially invites you to the ceremonial opening of the Historical Walking Tour on Sunday, September 14, 2025, as part of the "Day of Open Monuments." The event will start at 11:00 AM in the Barn Lill, Burgstraße 6.
The newly designed walking path offers exciting insights into the history of our village and makes the past tangible at selected stations. As part of the event, a joint tour will be offered at 2:00 PM - there will be an opportunity for exchange and conversations among all participants over coffee and cake.
We are pleased to share this heartfelt project with the public, your AG Heimatkunde.
All interested parties, Bickendorfers, and guests from the surrounding area are invited.
Further information:
The Catholic parish church of St. Martin in Bickendorf was designed in 1896 by the Saarbrücken architect Wilhelm Hector. The building, made of red sandstone, is oriented towards the Gothic style of the late 13th century and significantly shapes the townscape of the community with its tall choir flank tower.
The renovated building is part of the historical walking tour and is also one of the main buildings that will be featured in this year's light event "Bickendorf under Electricity" on December 27 and 28.
The theme of light is the focus of these two evening events. Highlights include a spectacular light installation in the village area as well as at the church.
